    Facebook announced, this week, screen sharing for mobile phones with Android and iOS operating system in Messenger.

    The new update will allow users to share the screen of their devices during video calls. Groups of up to 16 people will also be able to use the new feature, both on mobile and PC.

    According to Facebook, the launch of the new feature was motivated by the increase in the number of people who started using Messenger.

    Another motivation was the new dynamics of social isolation imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, in which many businesses started working in the home office format to continue their activities.

    According to Messenger, since March 2022, there has been a 70% increase in the use of video calls. It is worth noting that this launch has a global scale, reaching all continents.

    And ready! When hanging up, you can rate the quality of the video call in Messenger with little stars.

    Facebook also announced that it will soon extend the functionality to meetings of up to 50 people, which today can be done through Messenger, however, without the new feature.

    POSITIVE POINTS OF THE NEWS

    We only see positive points in the launch of the new screen sharing function in Messenger, especially for entrepreneurs who want to keep their business active, in a responsible way.

    – Facilitates the sharing of information between people through Facebook itself, without resorting to other applications, such as Skype and Zoom;

    – Enables family and professional meetings, for small and large groups, without the need to download or install anything;

    – Can be used for business activities of service, support, training, consulting and online courses, keeping the economy active;

    – Promotes connection between people, even in times of social isolation.

    THE NEW NORMAL OF CONNECTION BETWEEN PEOPLE

    We cannot deny the impact that the coronavirus pandemic has had on the daily routine of people around the world. And we know that for a while, we will still have to adapt to the new dynamics of connection, whether in the family or at work.

    But one thing is certain. Staying connected is a path of no return. And this “new normal” includes adaptations to existing features, such as the one that Messenger made available.

    Is that you? Have you tried the screen sharing function with your friends? What do you think?
