Open World Games for Weak PC: 11 Games You Must Have

Open World Games for Weak PC: 11 Games You Must Have

Open world games revolutionized gaming when they first appeared. Despite other games having appeared before, GTA was certainly the title that consolidated the genre among game fans.

Before, the experience of exploring vast cities, full of easter eggs and fun things to do was unimaginable, mainly due to the technical limitations of the consoles themselves – from which almost everything had been adapted until then. With GTA this has changed radically.

Today, to give you an idea, the big discussion is about the relevance of the genre with the arrival of more powerful hardware. Titles such as No Man's Sky, which has literally thousands of planets to be explored, and Death Stranding, with a vast map, have been heavily criticized precisely for being too big and with almost nothing to do.

However, if there's one thing that current open world games don't support, it's weak hardware. But that doesn't mean you have to stop having fun. We know that it takes work – and costs a lot of money – to keep your PC up to date to be able to run all the latest titles in decent quality. That's why we've rounded up 26 open world games for weak PCs for you to enjoy. Also check out our Weak PC games: 48 games that run on any PC.

Best Survival Games for Weak PC

Lists aren't always perfect and getting unanimity on them is a virtually impossible task. That's why we've organized our list by alphabetical order. That is, survival games for weak PCs that come first are not necessarily better than those at the bottom of the list.

    Let's play!

    1. ArcaniA

ArcaniA is an interesting game, but it can be repetitive at times. It's an open world exploration game ideal for a weak PC, but not that weak. Mixing RPG and open world elements and with interesting action parts like killing the goblins using only your bow and arrow, the game is quite interesting.

    DirectX: 9 Version

    2. Batman Arkham series

Yes, that's right: an open world Batman game. Although already well known and with many versions and adaptations, the strong point of the game is the story. You feel totally propelled by the story to get into the action, and despite some glitches in the animations to get into the Batmobile, the FPS and action scenes are very interesting - especially for those looking for a weak PC open world game of today, but it was great a few years ago. You can play on lower settings too.

    3. Boiling Point: Road to Hell

Boiling Point combines intense gun combat with massive open-world exploration. Everything takes place in the dense forests of Latin America (probably the Amazon jungle), in a non-linear narrative and giving the player more freedom. Excellent open world option for weak PC.

    4. Bully: Scholarship

Welcome to Bullworth Academy, a melting pot of high school stereotypes. Outsiders are making plans to rule the world, teachers terrorize their students, gymnastics jocks and rockers try to impress girls while chic students walk around with their noses in the air. This is a well done GTA-style game with a very original story proposal. A great open world game for weak PC.

Storage: 4.7 GB of free space

    5. The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall

Daggerfall is a very successful mix: it's an open world game and, at the same time, one of the greatest RPGs ever made. The amount of content, what to do, and the quality of the story are impressive and memorable.

The game's explorable land is twice the size of Great Britain, making it the largest "electronic" landmass of any game ever. It takes two weeks in the real world to walk from one side of the map to the other. It's pretty big.

With multiple ways to go through the main story, Daggerfall was really built around players' wishes. As a roleplaying game, this was when PC gaming was at its best, with Daggerfall as a flagship game for that genre. In our opinion, compared to modern games, the combat is a little poor, but the experience provided by the rest of the game makes up for it all, making it an excellent open-world game for the weak PC.

Video Card: Graphics: AMD Radeon Xpress 1200 Series or NVIDIA GeForce 6200 LE
    Storage: 256 MB free space

    6. Elder scrolls: Oblivion

The game is great, has excellent graphics and is well optimized, giving it the opportunity to run on any machine.

The game isn't incredibly immersive like Skyrim, for example, but it's so impressive that sometimes I just stop and look around, soaking up the atmosphere. Sunset by the sea, with the sun reflecting on the water, storms in the forest, with an incredible sound and the trees swaying in the wind, the grass shaking and the animals running for cover. This makes the game more than just any game.

This game deserves its place among the titans of weak PC open world games.

Storage: 4.6 GB of free space

    7. Gothic 1

War was announced throughout the kingdom of Myrtana. The orc hordes have invaded human territory and the king needs a lot of ore to forge enough weapons for his army to have any chance. Those who break the law in these darkest times are condemned to serve in the gigantic penal colony of Khorinis, extracting much-needed ore.

In a very different game proposal, in Gothic 1 you are thrown into this prison. Inside it, you must survive and form valuable alliances until you can finally escape and face different challenges outside. An excellent open-world game for the low-end PC with very low hardware requirements.

Storage: 4 GB of free space

    8. GTA Vice City

Gta Vice City was one of the best 80's themed Rockstar games I've ever played. It's action packed, bloody and sexy at the same time, but it's still a great game. The minigames within the game are incredible and were a real hit in 2003 and 2004. In addition to being an excellent open world game for the weak PC, it also has an exciting campaign mode that doesn't lose anything for many games today.

    RAM Memory: 128MB RAM
    Video card: 32 MB
    Storage: 915MB of free space

    9. GTA San Andreas

San Andreas is an excellent evolution of one of the best games ever made. The graphics aren't very good, but this game is very much about fun and exploration. The gameplay is amazing, apart from the fact that there are infinite cheats in the game.

The story is probably the best. I didn't skip a single scene during the entire game. It always kept me tuned in to what was the next thing to do, despite being a little repetitive at times. If you really want to enjoy San Andreas, enjoy all the vehicles you can drive, from planes to helicopters, tanks, dirt bikes, excavators and a simple BMX. Another great open world game for Rockstar's weak PC.

    10. Grand Theft Auto III

I played for the first time on PS2 and I couldn't stop. When the PC version came, I bought it without hesitation. For those who also made this migration, you know that the aiming system was much better on PC. This may have been the version of the franchise that kick-started the popularization of the game, followed by Vice City and the explosion in sales. Excellent open world game for weak PC, runs even on the machines you thought to throw away.

    11. Gun

It is spectacularly motivating and very addictive. Gun is one of the best western-style open world games I've played in my entire life. The plot is very intriguing, exciting and, above all, extremely intense. My only gripe is the lack of the main campaign. Excellent open world game for weak PC for those who want something like Red Dead Redemption but don't have the machine for it lol.
