What is TikTok?
TikTok is a free video creation and sharing app available for Android, iOS and Amazon devices. The app offers a series of augmented reality filters and effects, like those of Snapchat and Instagram Stories.
The user is able to create videos of up to 15 or 60 seconds or use one from the gallery. You can add a soundtrack, change the speed, apply a beauty filter and much more. Once ready, you can also change the music, include effects, insert other augmented reality filters, among other options.
Content can be shared on the app's social network, which has over 500 million active monthly users. The more original your video, participate in challenges and use hashtags, the greater your chances of gaining followers. And, who knows, become a successful tiktoker.
How to create an account on TikTok
To use TikTok as a video creation tool, it is not necessary to have an account. However, if you want to use it socially or save your preferences, you must be a user of the program.
The service allows you to register with your phone number or email address. If you prefer, you can use credentials from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, VK, Line or Kakao Talk.
In 2022, the app merged with the Musical.ly app, which offered similar functionality. If, by any chance, you were already a Musical.ly user, your account was immediately incorporated by TikTok and you will not need to create a new one. Just login.
How to create a video on TikTok
The video creation feature offers a wide range of tools to make your movie as fun as possible. Check out how to use each of them step by step.
But first, tap the + icon at the bottom of the app's home screen to access the content creation and editing function.

If you want to use an augmented reality effect, the kind that "fits" your face, tap on Effects. They are divided by categories such as Make, Comedy, Effects, Zodiac, among others.
Just swipe from one to one to check out all the available options. Tap on the one you want to use and aim the camera (rear or front) at a face. If this is your first time using it, you will need to wait a few seconds to download it.

One of the main attractions of TikTok is the possibility to dub songs and fun lines. If you want to make a film with lip-syncing, go to add sound, at the top of the editor screen.
The user can search for the music they want in the search bar or explore the playlists created by the service. When tapping on a track, a rectangle with a check symbol will appear while the track is playing. If you want to use the song, tap on this rectangle.
Wait a few seconds for it to load and then you will be taken to the video recording screen.

If you chose to use a soundtrack, be aware that you are only allowed to make videos of up to 15 seconds. If you don't want to use the feature, you can select 60 s (60 seconds), located below the central red recording button.
Just above that button, there is a line with the options 0.3x, 0.5x, 1x, 2x e 3x. Each of them indicates the speed at which the movie will be shot. The higher the number, the faster it will be. THE 1x indicates normal speed. It is possible to change the tempo in the middle of recording the video, as we will explain next.
If you want to use filters that create a kind of “aura” to the image, access the item Filters, in the right corner of the screen. Or drag your finger from right to left to view them.
To start recording, hold the red button at the bottom of the screen. When you release it, recording is stopped and you can change the speed and filter settings you chose earlier. The effect, however, cannot be changed.
Many take advantage of this break to create “magical” effects in their videos. For example, changing your outfit or hairstyle, bringing out something that wasn't on display, among others.
After recording, tap on the smaller red circle icon, with the check icon inside.
How to edit a video on TikTok
After recording the video, the user can make some edits before saving or publishing. Note that there are four options on the bottom bar and three on the right side. Are they:

Allows you to include a song after the movie is recorded, or change the song initially chosen.

It offers a wide range of features. In Visual, just keep your finger pressed for as long as you want to apply filters. There are hearts, neon style, rain and dozens of other free items that overlay the image.
Still within Effects, there is the tab Stickers, which adds augmented reality stickers. Insert the face of a panda, put on a few pounds, get a huge jaw, among others.
Already in Transitions various transition effects are available, while in Split, there are a number of features for splitting the screen. Finally, in the tab Time, are the Reverse, Acceleration (Flash) or Slow Motion effects.
To apply the edits made, go to Save, in the upper right corner of the screen.
Character
Despite the name, the feature allows you to write text over the video. You can choose from five types of fonts, insert or remove background, and position content on the screen.
Stickers
User can add stickers and emojis to the video through the option Stickers. They can be animated (in GIF style) or static. If by chance you give up on one you have selected, just drag it to the top of the screen to delete it.
Filters
Here, users find the same filters available before recording. It's another chance to customize the movie however you want. As before, they can also be applied by dragging the screen from right to left.
Cut
No item Cut, you can change the piece of music used in your video. Music videos are 15 seconds long and songs are typically around 30 seconds long.
To do this, just drag the blue bar from one side to the other. Then, just confirm in the red rectangle with the check icon.
Volume
The feature allows you to increase or decrease the volume of the soundtrack or the original sound of the video, if any. The further to the right, the louder the sound.
Advance
Did you make all the edits you wanted? then go to the button Advance, in the lower right corner of the screen, to share the result with your TikTok friends (and other social networks as well).
How to post a video made on TikTok
Sharing a video on TikTok is not very different from how it is done on other social networks. Write the caption, tag friends and add as many hashtags as you like. You can also choose the frame (film excerpt) that will illustrate the call, in select cover.
Below, you can turn off comments, choose who can see your post, and allow them to duet with it. You can also choose to save the post in the mobile album.
If you want, tap on the WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook icons to publish the content simultaneously on these social networks. Only public videos can be shared.

Did you like the channel? Access the profile picture with an icon of +. It is also possible to like the post (heart) and comment (dialog bubble).
