    Halloween: Curiosities

Halloween is a commemorative date that takes place on October 31 and is traditionally celebrated in the United States, where people dress up and decorate their homes with scary decorations and separate and deliver candy to children.

The origin of Halloween dates back to over 2000 years ago, when the Celtic people (a group of people that emerged between 600 BC and 600 AD in Central Europe) decorated their homes with bones and other macabre objects in an attempt to protect themselves.

They believed that the last day of summer (October 31, according to their calendar) was marked by evil and that the dead returned to harass the living.

So they found a way to ward off the evil.

The Catholic Church, in order to make the date into something aimed at good and towards the more side of Christianity, gave rise to the Day of the All Souls, on November 2, to honor those who have passed away.

The Irish were responsible for bringing the festivity to the United States in the XNUMXth century.

It has since become part of American culture and has spread all over the world.
