1. Supernatural

Supernatural is a series on the CW network that ended with 15 seasons.

For a long time, the production was considered one of the main horror series on TV.

In the plot, brothers Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) lost their mother 20 years ago to a strange supernatural event when they were still children.

Sam was a baby, practically newborn. Dean was only four years old. 


With that, their father, John Winchester (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) raised his children to become monster hunters and thus find the creature that killed their mother and finally get revenge.



In its first seasons, the series shows the brothers traveling across the United States and facing various monsters, ghosts and demons.

4. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

The plot follows Sabrina Spellman, played by Kiernan Shipka.

The plot follows Atticus Black (Jonathan Majors), an army veteran, but very young, who joins his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett) and his uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) on an emotional trip across the United States, in full year 1950.

The purpose of this trip is quite simple and personal: to find your missing father.

Along the way, they must deal with supernatural forces and racist terrors.

6. The Curse of the Hill Residence

The Haunting of Hill House is one of the horror series that has conquered audiences and critics since its debut on Netflix.


It brings not only the horror elements, but also the human and emotional side of its characters and their individual plots.

With only 10 excellent episodes, the series is based on the book of the same name by Shirley Jackson.

This is a horror that goes beyond the graphic, working especially the psychological terror and the drama of the characters. 


In the main plot, a couple and their children move into Hill Mansion.

Their main objective is to renovate the house and make it ready to be sold.

However, supernatural elements begin to appear and conflict with the family's initial plan.

7. The Curse of Bly Manor

This can be considered as a second season of Hill House, as it has a very similar approach and practically the same cast.

With only 9 episodes, you can find The Haunting of Bly Manor on its own Netflix page, even with the similarities. 

The story is based on the 1898 book The Turn of the Screw and written by Henry James.

The plot follows a young woman who is hired as the housekeeper of a mansion and her main job is to take care of the two nephews of her boss, who does not live in the house.

Over time, supernatural things begin to happen, and something out of the ordinary is also visible in children. 


8. Servant

One of the new streaming services on the market is Apple TV+, which has an excellent option for lovers of horror series, Servant.

Like the two Haunting series we listed above, Servant does a lot of psychological horror.

The show's plot revolves around the couple Sean and Dorothy, in addition to the nanny Leanne.

Leanne was hired by the couple to look after Jericho, the main couple's son.

However, the baby is actually a doll.

The doll was the only thing able to help the mother out of her state of shock.

Over time, she came to see him as her true son.

The nanny then has to deal with the situation, including Sean, who even knowing the truth, acts as if the doll was a real child.

18. American Horror Story

Another Amazon Prime Video production, Them is one of the horror series that can deal with more realistic themes.

Released in 2022, the series follows a black family that moves to an all-white neighborhood in North Carolina, Los Angeles, in the year 1953. 

However, everything that could go wrong, ends up and the place that would be the house of dreams ends up becoming ground zero for evil forces.

The series promises to tackle many racial issues as one of its main themes during its first season. 

22 scream

Scream is one of Netflix's top horror series.

The plot shows a city where a dangerous killer is on the loose chasing a group of young people and bringing up buried memories of a dark past.

23. Penny Dreadful

With 27 episodes available on the Starzplay streaming service, Penny Dreadful is quite popular among horror series lovers.
